1. REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR THE NON-LUCRATIVE RESIDENCE PERMIT
- Not be a citizen of the European Union.
- A valid passport with a minimum validity of one year.
- Not be in Spain irregularly.
- No criminal record.
- Not be banned from entering Spain.
- Sufficient financial means to support your stay and return—this amounts to 400% of the IPREM, which for 2025 is €2,400 per month.
- Private health insurance with full coverage in Spain.
- Not suffer from diseases that could have serious public health consequences.
2. APPLICATION
The application for this residence permit must be submitted from your country of origin, specifically at the Spanish Consulate corresponding to your place of residence. A government fee of €10.94 must be paid, in addition to the visa issuance fee, which varies depending on the Consulate.
Once the permit is approved, the applicant has one month to collect the visa. After that, they must enter Spain within three months. This residence permit is initially granted for one year.
Upon arrival in Spain, the holder must apply for the Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) within one month from their entry into the country.
3. FAMILY MEMBERS
It is possible to bring direct family members under this residence permit. However, they must provide the same required documentation as the main applicant. Additionally, an extra income equivalent to 100% of the IPREM must be proven, which represents an additional €600 per month per family member.
